THREATENING  IRAN

This site is not against the US it is in opposition to the current Foreign Policy. In this is supports many like-minded US citizens.

It is also not unaware of problems in Iran.

The President of Iran should issue further qualifications to his speeches something like:

The Jewish Holocaust did take place.  Israel has a right to exist. We do not agree however with the present government's policies. We do not think this Holocaust should be used as an excuse to treat Palestinians brutally.  We need nuclear power for energy but have to point out that the US is in breach of the NPT and is threatening to attack us and has prepared nuclear bunker busters to do so.  We would be justified if we did develop a nuclear deterrent; I remind you that the Ayatollah Khomeini said the nuclear weapons are un-Islamic.

From Foreign Policy in Focus

FPIF contributor Reese Erlich is also worried and has a more comprehensive set of suggestions. In his essay U.S. Tells Iran: Become a Nuclear Power, Erlich recommends that Washington stop demonizing Tehran, apologize for U.S. aggression toward the country, return frozen assets, lift all sanctions, begin to reduce U.S. nuclear arsenals, and offer to restore full diplomatic relations. "Then I would do something neither side expects," Erlich writes in this excerpt from his new book, The Iran Agenda. "I would tell them we will phase out our nuclear power reactors for safety reasons and because we can't safely store nuclear waste. Nuclear power plants in the United States aren't even hardened against an airplane crash, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission refuses to require it. Then I would suggest that Iran not develop nuclear power."

NO END IN SIGHT

Possible scenarios.

Let's guess the response to an attack on Iran.
Iran defends itself by launching rockets sinking US warships.  It avoids Israel and Iraq because it does not want to kill muslims.

In Iraq however the Shiite and even Sunni  militias go all out and kill all American soldiers with massive suicide attacks.
The new homegrown Jihadists all over the world also retaliate now the gloves are really off.  (The IISS states that home-grown terrorists are the greatest threat).  Home grown terrorists explode dirty nuclear bombs in New York and London.  Bush declares another war on terrorism.  The US leaves Iraq, like it did Vietnam, with its tail between its legs. (The NeoCons fail to acknowledge the defeat rewriting history to prepare for more war).  Meanwhile in Pakistan the Jihadists are given new lease of life by the attack on Iran and stage a coup.  Now they  have nuclear material and rockets which are smuggled out before the coup is announced.  A nuclear missile hits the White House. More on a possible scenario from Phillip Geraldi

Childrens do learn President don't.

Animals become extinct when they fail to adapt to changing environments.

The lesson to be learned about WMD is that their possession leads to the need for others to possess them. The only way to encourage Iran not to go forward in the possession of nuclear weapons is to cease their self-righteous possession and enact the NPT.

Currently the nuclear dodos persist in outmoded ways of thought:  http://www.missiledefenseadvocacy.org/.

My own feeling is that the weapons themselves are doing the thinking.

DENIAL

Holocaust denial is appalling but all similar denial is appalling Bush's climate change denial will cost hundreds of millions of lives ( see winner of this year's King Canute Prize). Iranian authorities sent a proposal to the United States in May 2003 offering negotiations on a deal for Iran to freeze its nuclear program if the United States would end its hostility against Iran. The Bush administration thumbed its nose at the Iranian proposal, then tried to cover up the story, according to Trita Parsi, in his new book, Treacherous Alliance: The Secret Dealings of Israel, Iran, and the United States.

LEST WE FORGET

Twenty-five years after the end of the Vietnam War, the herbicide Agent Orange - sprayed by US planes during the war - is said to still affect a million victims in Vietnam today. Many of them are children born with serious deformities...

Bush Senior:
Hating Saddam, Selling Him Weapons

by Kurt Nimmo quote:

While Bush Junior declares he "will not allow... a nation such as Iraq to threaten our very future by developing weapons of mass destruction," the administration of his father and Reagan, as the Gonzalez revelations demonstrate, apparently didn't have the future of America in mind when they allowed biological and chemical weapons--as well as massive amounts of conventional military hardware--to be exported to Iraq. They were only interested in making sure Saddam gassed as many Iranians as possible--and thus pay back the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini for evicting the despised Shah Reza Pahlavi and initiating an anti-western revolution in Iran. No doubt it irks Bush, Cheney, neocons in general, and a few mulitnaitonal oil corporations that Iran is calling the shots on its oil resources.

INTERNATIONAL HERALD TRIBUNE A collective voice against the nuclear option Published: TUESDAY, MAY 9, 2006

Recent news articles report that the use of tactical nuclear weapons against Iran is being actively considered by Pentagon planners and by the White House. Eighteen hundred of our fellow physicists have joined in a petition opposing new U.S. nuclear- weapons policies that open the door to the use of nuclear weapons for situations like Iran. As members of the profession that brought nuclear weapons into existence, we urge the administration to abandon such policies, which would have grave consequences for America and for the world.

Nuclear weapons are unique among weapons of mass destruction: They unleash the enormous energy stored in the tiny nucleus of an atom, an energy that is a million times larger than that stored in the rest of the atom. The nuclear explosion releases an immense amount of blast energy and thermal and nuclear radiation, with deadly immediate and delayed effects on the human body. Over 100,000 human beings died in the Hiroshima blast, and nuclear weapons in today's arsenals have a total yield of more than 200,000 Hiroshima bombs.

Using or even merely threatening to use a nuclear weapon pre-emptively against a nonnuclear adversary tells the nonnuclear countries that are party to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty that their adherence offers them no protection against a nuclear attack. Many are thus likely to abandon the treaty, and the nuclear nonproliferation framework will be damaged even further than it already has been, with disastrous consequences for the security of the United States and the world.

There are no sharp lines between small "tactical" nuclear weapons and large ones, nor between nuclear weapons targeting facilities and those targeting armies or cities.

Nuclear weapons have not been used for 60 years. If America were to use a nuclear weapon again, it would heighten the probability that others would too. In a world with many more nuclear nations and no taboo against their use, there will be a greatly enhanced risk that regional conflicts could expand into global nuclear war, with the potential to destroy our civilization.

'Here, we have a letter written to a colleague, complaining about the latter’s support of Ron Paul, candidate for president:

“We are spending as much now as we did during WWII for the exact same purpose. Like it or not, we are in WWIII, a war against men as evil as Hitler, Mussolini, Hirohito. Fascist, unconscionable Muslim terrorist rats, determined (they've said so) to destroy you, me, our children and our way of life. I’m a Korean Veteran. I know what I was fighting for. Do you? Ron Paul sure doesn’t. What in the world do core libertarian beliefs in limited economic and social constitutional government have to do with the war in Iraq? A great many libertarians want us to win this war because all Americans would then be safer. Defeat would greatly strengthen those who have declared war on us.”

The letter reminded us of Hermann Goering’s famous remark, upon hearing that the Vatican had condemned Nazi Germany.

“How many divisions does the Pope have?” he asked".
